High School Educational Resource Director - September 2017

Job Title: High School Educational Resource Director

Position Summary

The High School Educational Resource Director is responsible for implementing and supervising the school’s resource program. This position works with individual students and their families to determine what accommodations and resources are needed by the student with an understanding of what the school is able to provide, as well as educating and communicating with the full faculty about how to best serve each individual student.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Individual Learning Plan (ILP)Design

  1. Help refer families for formal testing/evaluation
  2. Review formal testing results when they are released to the school and make recommendations/suggestions to the faculty
  3. Gather and review documentation specific to the students’ developmental histories
  4. Develop, coordinate, and implement student ILPs using formal testing results
  5. Maintain professional documentation, records, and student files for students with learning challenges
  6. Create and update forms

Individual Learning Plan (ILP) Implementation

  1. Help students be successful through working with them and helping teachers understand what accommodations they need.
  2. Respond to the needs of the faculty in support of students with learning challenges
  3. Observe students in classes and work with teachers to meet students’ learning needs
  4. Meet one-on-one with students as needed to provide additional support services for their learning needs (academics, socialization, study skills, etc…)
  5. Check in with students if needed.
  6. Communicate with HS Counselor when students with ILPs have a need for counseling

Coordinate support systems

  1. Coordinate weekly reports
  2. Coordinate peer note taking system

Apply for standardized testing accommodations to the College Board and ACT

Consult with the HSLG and/or high school faculty and attend high school faculty meetings

Meet periodically with the lower school Educational Support Director and/or the Middle School Support Team

  1. Communicate and plan the transition from middle school to high school for students with learning challenges
  2. Share policies, procedures, and forms (consistency)
  3. Uphold the public image of Support/Resource program

Education and Qualifications / Regulations

  • Educational/Resource Support Experience at the High School Level
  • Undergraduate College Degree
  • Waldorf Education experience desired

Work Setting

  • General office environment, computer and desk work
  • Office hours are 19 hours per week:
    • 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
    • 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Thursday, to include attendance at HS Faculty Meetings

Salary and Benefits

  • This position is part time and offers no benefits
  • Monthly salary of $1,750 (Position will be placed on an annual Faculty Agreement.)

Substitute Teachers - August 2017

Position Summary

Shining Mountain Waldorf School is seeking substitute teachers. We are looking for individuals who have teaching experience, love the classroom environment, and are available (sometimes on very short notice) to work during the week. Knowledge of Waldorf education is a plus.

Costume Manager - August 2017

Job Title:    Costume Manager

Position Summary

Provide costumes and props support to teachers and parents for class plays, High School musical, festivals, special events (Pentathlon, Medieval Games), and outreach activities throughout the school year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with teacher or event coordinator to discuss the needs of the play
  • Work from a prepared list to pull costumes and props
  • Review with teacher/class parent and deliver rack(s) to the classroom for fittings
  • Fulfill additional needs during the process through performance
  • Coordinate for preparation of backdrop(s) and set pieces with class parents, etc.
  • Coordinate for preparation of backdrop(s) and set pieces with SMWS Facilities personnel for installation
  • Help set up staging areas: mirrors, some makeup, steamer, additional rack(s), drapes
  • Collect all costumes/props from performance area and coordinate with Facilities personnel for return of backdrops/large set pieces to storage area(s).
  • Wash or have dry-cleaned costumes as appropriate.  Repair, re-rack and re-shelf
  • Review and keep copies of lists/photographs for future reference
  • Backdrops: maintain notebook of pictures and tags on rolls

Salary, Hours, and Benefits

    • Some weeks may take 20 hours while other weeks will take 1 or 2 hours
    • Some summer hours may be required
  • Variance in weekly work time over 10 hours must be approved by Pedagogical Director
  • This job requires flexibility in hours
