Future Search Community Feedback

In August 2015, a diverse group of SMWS constituents met together to engage in a Future Search process to lay the groundwork for our 5-year strategic plan. Through that process we arrived at 5 major goals with related provocative statements, which were then brought to the first All-School Community Meeting in September. At the Community Meeting, more community members entered the conversation, and many ideas for ways to progress towards realizing our goals were brought forward.

As the Board of Trustees works towards finalizing our strategic plan, we are asking for as much community feedback as possible. Please use the form below to familiarize yourself with the 5 goals and provocative statements, and to submit your comments and ideas.

Future Search Community Feedback

GOAL 1: FINANCIAL PLAN FOR SUSTAINABILITY/PHYSICAL IMPROVEMENTS
Provocative Statement: SMWS maintains consistent annual positive free cash flow, with assets management, built up reserves and investment capital.
GOAL 2: INCREASED RETENTION
Provocative Statement: We are fully committed to lowering attrition at SMWS. Our goal is retention at 90% by 2020.
GOAL 3: IMPROVED PARENT EDUCATION
Provocative Statement: Parent Education, as the roots of a tree, feeds the many branches of Retention, Community Support and Development, Financial Sustainability, and a shared vision through grassroots outreach efforts that address the current educational and community issues and needs of our time. We serve the faculty to articulate what they identify as fundamental needs within the community to foster unity and social health. Parent Education honors all stakeholders, giving inspired opportunities to meet the community with the gifts of Waldorf pedagogy.
GOAL 4: VIBRANT, ENGAGED SMWS COMMUNITY
Provocative Statement: We are a community based school; an intentional, inclusive Waldorf community dedicated to evolving humanity.
GOAL 5: "TELL OUR STORY" + CREATE A PRESENCE IN THE LARGER BOULDER COMMUNITY
Provocative Statement: We are an organization with clearly defined core values and an impactful story to tell. Our mission statement and vision reflect our philosophy and compel healthy high-trust relationships. Our effective, innovate engagement programs and collaboration in the larger Boulder community help us to attract the “best-fit” students and families.
